Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution requires the president to annually address the “state of the union” to Congress. Historically it has run the gamut from game changer to phrases thrown and caught with great puffery, only to fade in the incessant winds of political pandering.
The state of the union is not too bad. The president, however, is almost a man without a country. Americans have rebuked his denying of American exceptionalism. Looking to their heads, hearts and heritage, they answered liberty’s call to muster and are meting out political punishments. Moreover, Incumbent wordsmithing, scapegoating and finger pointing has hastened a congressional conga line of “No Mas” political retirements and defeats.
There’s no surprise here. Man flourishes and is best governed in a system as complementary to his nature as his strands of DNA. Founding fathers understood this “political genome of man”. James Madison declared that “In framing a government … (you must)… oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is… the primary control on the government……” God, not presidents, is omnipotent and omniscient.
Our founders understood what the ascendency of American ideals would portend. They knew evil is real, there is a duty to confront it and negotiation is not the primary tool. They also knew not to indebt us to sovereignty other than our own. Mr. President, bow to that and the American people.
Mr. President, never again dabble in what one columnist called the “squalid commerce of special benefits tailored to few”, such as the devilish health care deals with individual states and unions. Shame on the purported assassin of special interest politics and class warfare.
Elegant and intelligent men can learn. Can you see the sacrifice needed is from you and your over-mentating minions? Can you swallow what works best for man is not in your fashioning; it predates you. Politicians fail to fulfill promises, we understand. However do you understand you’re not the promise of history’s demands? Just get the message and do your best with us; we’ll love ya for it.
So, do not resurrect some boogieman du jour, such as this latest ruse with the banking industry. This distraction could tank a precarious market of a nation with over half its GDP in debt, a falling currency and non friendly issuers of our credit wanting more interest on their investment.
Yes, malpractice reform, portability and access for a minority are needed. They will drive down cost, dismember none of the good and can be done transparently and together with the American people. Put a leash on your witless wonders that went to war over this.
Act on Iran now, although it may be too late. Tell the world “never again”. Tell the Russians where they can put the missiles you replace. They are going to arm the Iranians anyway.
Stop thinking you know who hurt Mother Nature and apologizing for it. Resist using sham science backed by new world order Nazi’s doing the “Goregonuts Goose Step”. Use our wonderful corporate intellect and American savvy to develop diversified alternative fuels now.
Good can come out of this come-upping. Moderate; cap and trade are political suicide. Prune the panic tree with sheer truth, not words. Institute tax cuts, less government intervention across the board and productivity based sustainable jobs and deal with our educational crisis.
You were not voted in on a landslide. You did not have a global mandate for changing the nature of the nation or man, and you can’t. Your seeming dominance was tempest in a teapot. How ironic that the tempers of teetotalers turned the tide. So stop the condescension. No one person is the brightest penny in the pack. It is we the people, not me the peace prize winner who must shine.
State that in your state of the union address and lead, not luxuriate.
